A NEW report revealed that the education available at University Technical Colleges like the one based in Swindon have positive impacts on students' school experiences.

The National Foundation for Educational Research published an evaluation of UTCs which found that industry-related project-based learning and employer engagement that the colleges specialise benefitted students in a variety of ways.

Students interviewed felt that attending the UTC had benefitted their confidence, motivation and engagement as the classroom-based and project-based learning was relevant to real world work situations. Local employers also valued the talent pipeline generated by working with local schools.

The report revealed that project-based learning, in which students work to briefs and deadlines and frequently use critical thinking and problem-solving skills, enhances their academic learning in English and history as well as their learning in technical subjects.
