STEAM train trips through Wiltshire will head to three destinations this spring: Bath, Bristol, or The West Somerset Railway.

On March 7, the B1 steam locomotive Mayflower, which returned to the tracks earlier this year after a three-year refurbishment, will start out from London and make its way to Salisbury for approximately 11.50am before continuing along the Wylye Valley to Bath and Bristol.

The return trip leaves Bristol at 4.40pm.

On April 16 there is a trip through the Wiltshire countryside, along the Bristol Channel and through the Quantock Hills to the seaside at the West Somerset Railway. There will be time to relax on the sandy beach or enjoy a cream tea at the historic harbour, before returning along the pretty heritage line and retracing the route to Salisbury.

The trips are run by Steam Dreams, whose chairman David Buck commented; “Once on board our elegantly refurbished 1950’s and 60’s carriages, passengers can sit back and take in the wonderful scenery.

“We are delighted that Salisbury will provide the backdrop for Mayflower’s return with Steam Dreams and hope that the local population come out to welcome her back or join us on an unforgettable day out.”

Tickets are available in four classes, ranging from a straightforward seat to a top class Pullman Style Dining experience with a two-course champagne brunch on the outward journey and a four-course dinner on the return with wine and canapés, from 01483 209888 or www.SteamDreams.co.uk.
