A RETIREMENT home has been officially opened in Wroughton by TV and broadcast legend Fred Dinenage.

The host of BBC quiz show Pass The Pack, Gambit, and Tell the Truth cut the ribbon to open Banks Place on Moormead Road and to share stories from his 50-year career as a news anchor and presenter.

Fred said: “It was a pleasure to visit Banks Place and give a talk on my colourful television career. The development provides an excellent solution for local people looking to enjoy an independent and active lifestyle in retirement, and I enjoyed meeting and chatting to homeowners.

“It’s clear everyone values the quality of life afforded by their surroundings and the freedom of having a range of services on their doorstep.”

Nicki Beswarick, marketing manager for McCarthy & Stone Southern, said: “We are delighted so many Wroughton retirees and their families were able to join us for the grand opening, as well as having the opportunity to meet Fred and to hear about his wonderful career."
