A CACHE of weapons including CS gas were found on teenagers by police on Friday day.

On Friday a 16-year-old male was arrested in Cavendish Square for offences he was outstanding for.

The arresting officers searched the male and found a large kitchen knife, a hammer and a can of what is believed to be pepper spray or CS gas.

A spokesperson for Swindon South Police said: "The same night officers were conducting foot patrols of the town centre car parks and located a 13 year old and an 11 year old smoking cannabis.

"When a search was carried out the 11 year old was found to be in possession of a sharp knife capable, in the wrong hands, of causing a fatal injury."

Added a warning to teenagers thinking of carrying a knife and parents to be more vigilant and to check kitchen draws for missing blades.

"You are far more likely to get stabbed if you're carrying a knife," they added.

To parents police said : "Chat to your children about carrying a knife.Yes we still see flick knives, zombie knifes and hunting knives but more often than not the knives we are seizing from young people are steak or kitchen knives."

Next week will be the start of Knife Crime Awareness Week in a bid to tackle the rise in knife crime.
