FAMILY carers of people living with dementia will be able to find information, tips and support at a free training course in Upper Seagry this spring.

The seven weekly sessions will run on Wednesday afternoons from March 27 at Goss Croft Hall and will help people understand what is happening to their relative or friend as different types of dementia develop, and focus on what they can do to support them. Sessions also cover the practical aspects of caring, including financial and legal issues.

Alzheimer’s Support community services co-ordinator Kate Sharpe said: “We run these courses twice a year. People pick up invaluable tips for how to support their loved ones and how to look after themselves.

“Just meeting others in a similar situation can be helpful and carers who come often continue to get together informally after the course has ended.”

The course is funded by Wiltshire Council and free to family carers. To find out more or to book a place please call Kate on 01380 739055.
