A MEAT cleaver was allegedly discovered in a car pulled over by police on Fleming Way.
Wiltshire Police said they had charged a West Swindon man with possession of a knife after the stop-and-search.
It came during Op Sceptre, a nationwide police operation raising awareness of the dangers of carrying knives, swords and other weapons.
Officers pulled over a car on Fleming Way, Swindon town centre, at around 2.30pm on Thursday, March 14. During the search of the car, officers were said to have found and seized a meat cleaver.
Gareth Rayner, 40, of Sparcells, has been charged with possession of a bladed article in a public place, taking a motor vehicle without the owner's consent and driving without a licence and insurance.
He is due in court on Monday, April 17.
