A FAILED break-in at the Swindon Cricket Club has caused serious damage.

The incident happened between 3.30pm and 8.30pm at the club on County Road on Saturday March 16.

During the attempt, in which nothing was taken, substantial damage was caused to the front door and a van which was parked in the car park.

The van windows were also smashed and an attempt to force open the back doors caused further damage.

PC Jamie Brown said: "We are appealing for any information from members of the public to help find those responsible - it is likely that there would have been people in the area during these times as the car park was being used for the Swindon Town game.

"Fortunately, the offenders did not gain access to the hall itself, but have caused damage to the entrance.
