CAMPAIGNERS aiming to save Swindon's Honda plant from closure will tour giant ad vans around town today from the County Ground to draw attention to their cause.
The vans will drive off to the tune of Honda's theme The Impossible Dream and call on football fans at the STFC v Morecambe match to join next Saturday's march.
Car workers and campaigners will unveil the #SaveHondaSwindon ad vans outside the County Ground before the match at 1.30pm as part of a campaign day.
Unite regional officer Alan Tomala said:“Honda is a major employer in Swindon and supports thousands of jobs in the supply chain. Most people in Swindon have a connection with the plant. It would be a tragedy if Honda followed through with its threat to close the factory.
“We would urge as many people as possible to sign the petition and come on the march to help persuade Honda’s bosses to stay in Swindon and the UK.”
Elsewhere in the town centre, street stalls will be encouraging shoppers to sign up to the union's campaign and join the march which sets off from the County Ground on March 30 around 11am.
