THE Swindon Big Knit returns to the Orbital shopping centre on Saturday.

The free event is open to everyone who wants to spend an afternoon chatting and knitting, crocheting and sewing blankets which will be given to the homeless. Yarns, tools and patterns will be provided or knitters can bring their own.

Event co-ordinator Tracey Major said: "I love working with yarn and I love meeting new people with a similar passion for arts and crafts. The ladies who have tirelessly been making over 165 blankets for the homeless are an inspiration and have such generous hearts. I’m thrilled to be part of their group and to continue their work."

Every blanket made will be donated to Threshold Housing Link.

The event will be held at its regular venue, the Orbital's customer services hub, from 2pm to 4.30pm.
