AN ARGUMENT at a McDonald's drive-thru led to a 50-year-old man being assaulted and suffering a serious ankle fracture.

After the assault, a 50-year-old man from Swindon was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and later released under investigation while the police's enquiries continue.

The incident happened in between 12.15am and 12.20am on Sunday at the McDonalds on Great Western Way.

Det Con Chris Hughes, who is leading the investigation, said: “Despite the time of the incident, we know that there were a number of people present at McDonald's at the time, and they may have seen what happened. I’d be really keen to speak to these people – if this was you, please come forward and provide us with any information you may have.

“Similarly, if anyone has any footage of the incident, then this would of course be a priority to obtain.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
