HUNDREDS of people across Wiltshire of all ages took advantage of free music lessons on the weekend.

Organised by the charity Music for All the Learn to Play Day event aims to give everyone the opportunity to play a musical instrument.

Family-run Holme's Music was taking part and had youngsters as young as five coming in for free lessons.

Alan Holmes told the Adver: "We had quite a few coming in, but we booked them in before hand so we knew in advance how many to expect.

"We had piano, keyboard, drums, guitar and the ukelele, so it was quite a wide mixture."

Paul McManus, CEO at Music for All, said: “I think the reason this initiative is so successful across the UK is because no matter our age, background, or lifestyle, music is the one thing that brings everyone together."

Since it began eight years ago the Learn to Play Day initiative has given 100,000 free lessons, with a record 10,000 plus lessons being held at the 2019 event last weekend.
