DRIVERS have questioned why charges at a town centre car park have doubled overnight.
Swindon Borough Council took over responsibility for the Bristol Street car park last month. The facility is popular among rail commuters, due to its proximity to the Swindon mainline station.

Charges were hiked on April 1, with drivers discovering yesterday morning it would cost £8.80 to park for 24 hours - compared to £3.50 previously.
One regular user of the site said: "This is a very popular car park and always full. I'm sure I won't be the only one horrified at the increase."
We have approached Swindon Borough Council for comment.
