A FREE talk on how to keep kidneys healthy will be held at Great Western Hospital later this month.

The hospital's acute sepsis and kidney injury team want to raise awareness of the dangers of kidney failure and damage, so they're giving a talk on how to spot early signs of kidney injuries and how to avoid causing damage.

Team leader Nicola DeVeaux said: “We are very pleased to see reduced mortality rates and we want to continue educating people about the importance of maintaining healthy kidneys and recognising kidney problems.

“It is a journey of catching renal issues earlier on so that treatment is started as quickly and efficiently as possible, and we hope to see continuous improvements in the prevention of longer-term kidney problems in patients who have had a kidney injury.”

The talk will be held in the hospital's academy facility on Wednesday April 17 from 6pm. Refreshments will be provided for a small donation to Brighter Futures.
