A DEAL with Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn would be a 'national humiliation' according to Brexit supporting MP James Gray.

The MP for North Wiltshire, a staunch supporter of Brexit, who backed Theresa May's withdrawal deal in parliament, wrote a seething attack on colleagues in his party and the Labour leader.

In a letter to constituents he wrote: "Mr Corbyn will plainly demand things, a Customs Union, Single Market, second referendum, which are abhorrent to the Tories. If May goes along with Corbyn, her only chance would be to win using Labour, against her own Party.

"Not since the Corn Laws has that occurred; it would be a national humiliation and mean the certain death of the Conservative Party. She must not be allowed to do it."

The rowdy backbencher opposes a second referendum and a general election which he said would be a "nightmare", and urged a third vote on the deal this week.

He added: "If we do not do so, I can see no way in which Brexit can happen at all. That would be a disgraceful destruction of democracy."
