BREAK-DANCERS from around the world are descending on Swindon this week for a festival of urban dance.
The first ever Jam Festival sees scores of young dancers take part in a week-long series of workshops and performances.
Based in Swindon Dance’s studios in the old Town Hall, the festival culminates on Saturday with the West Country Clash, a full-day of battles between dancers incorporating styles from break dancing to popping-and-locking.
Tyler Attwood, himself an alumni of Swindon Dance’s Centre for Advanced Training programme, said dance teachers had come to Swindon from across the world. They will train dozens of young dancers, ranging in age from 10 to their mid-30s.
He said of his favourite aspect of the week: “For me, it’s inspiring the next generation.”
Viv Slayford, creative director at Swindon Dance, said: “For us, to bring dancers of an international standard to Swindon is amazing.”
