FUNDRAISERS collected money for Parkinson's Awareness Week at the Lidl in Gorse Hill.
The degenerative neurological condition affects one in 350 people around the UK. Yesterday marked the anniversary of James Parkinson publishing an essay on the illness that would later be named after him.
Dave Logan from the Swindon branch of Parkinson's UK said: "The first medication for it came out in the '50s and things have not moved on much since then. The problem is a lot of the condition is hidden, it affects your movement around different parts of your body and kills your brain cells."
