SOLDIERS played the part of the Easter Bunny at Great Western Hospital, delivering chocolate eggs to poorly children.
Members of 29 Regiment Royal Logistic Corps, based at South Cerney, dropped off the chocolate treats, crayons and soft toys yesterday.
Rhys Williams, a postal and courier operator with the regiment, said: “Charity is a big part of the army. We really wanted to do something to support the children spending time here and just put a smile on their faces.
“Easter can sometimes get forgotten, especially in hospital, so we wanted to deliver chocolate eggs to the children so that they can enjoy this time of year too.
“We never know when we may need to use the children’s ward. My child is due to be delivered at Great Western Hospital, and I may need to use the unit in the future. It can be very scary but we were all very keen to support the hospital and brighten up the day for these children.”
Catherine Newman, director of GWH charity Brighter Futures thanked the soldiers for the donation: “It really makes a difference to the children spending time in hospital to receive these treats.”
