RUNNERS got a foam soaking yesterday as charity chiefs unveiled their latest tactic to raise cash for Swindon’s most poorly patients.

Great Western Hospital charity Brighter Futures is backing the Bubble Rush 5k run at Lydiard Park in June.

And yesterday lunchtime the team behind the fun run brought their secret weapon - a giant foam cannon -to the country park. If runners are expecting a soapy suds dud they will be sorely mistaken. The fundraiser will see families jog around a short course through Lydiard Park, with the race culminating in runners being blasted by colourful foam.

The Bubble Rush runs are organised all over the country – with June’s event the first to be held in Swindon.

Cat Newman, director of fundraising for Brighter Futures, said: “We’re over the moon to have been chosen as the beneficiary of the Bubble Rush.”

Bubble Rush is on Saturday, June 15. Over 700 people have signed up so far. Tickets: £10 for children, £20 for adults.
