A BID to double the size of a composting facility near Purton has been called in for discussion by Wiltshire Council's planning committee.

The application by Hills Waste Solutions is proposing to permanently use the site on Parkgate Farm, which lies within the parish of Bradon, for the composting of green waste, and to increase the quantity of green waste composted from 25,000 tonnes per annum to 50,000 tonnes.

Wiltshire councillor for Purton Jacqui Lay called the plan in for review over concerns about the increase of HGV traffic through the village if the plans went ahead.

The previous application, which met with local opposition in Purton, was rejected at appeal in 2015.

Temporary planning permission was granted in 2007 to use the site for the composting of green waste and tyre recycling.

The planning application is due to be heard at the strategic planning committee next week, on April 24 at he Trowbridge council chambers at 10.30 am.
