THE Easter Bunny surprised young patients at Great Western Hospital's children's ward by visiting and handing out dozens of chocolate treats.

The Swift Logistics Group brought the bunny along to spread joy to poorly youngsters as part of a tour of hospitals around the south west area which they have done for the last seven years.

Anne Norman from Brighter Futures said: “The atmosphere was really good, the children absolutely loved it, they were really happy to see him. They liked that they could high-five him and watch him do the floss and hop up near their beds.

"The bunny brought plenty of eggs for them to choose from and handed them out at the children’s ward, children’s outpatients area, children’s A&E, and to any youngsters in the corridors and at reception.

“He was very welcomed by parents and staff alike, who also got a few eggs. The team that brought him along said they really enjoyed it and would love to come back again next year.”

Swift Logistics Group commercial director Greg Filmer said: “These vistas are truly magical events, bringing smiles and laughter to what, for many of the patients and their families, is a scary time in an alien and foreboding environment.

"The Swift teams which attend the children’s wards are really touched by the bravery and fortitude these kids display and I can report that all our children receive an extra tight hug following our visits.”
