Another eight houses could be built merely yards away from the site where five luxury executive homes are proposed in a village on the edge of Swindon.

Fairwater Homes Ltd has applied for planning permission form Swindon Borough Council to build a small estate of eight houses on land at Marsh Farm, just off the Marsh in Lower Wanborough.

The land is close to the site of a hugely controversial plan to build a warehouse and further 'science park' industrial development on land between the village and the A419.

The houses could be built next to the St Katherine's Place estate to the north of The Marsh.

If approved and built the houses would describe a semi-circle oriented to the field next door. Two of the houses would feature thatched roofs according to the application.

That field is used as grazing by the alpaca farm at Honeyfield Farm but is already the subject of another planning application to build five houses.
