THE Swindon Recital Series marks its 25th anniversary with a jazz-themed concert at the Wyvern Theatre on Sunday, May 5.
Highlights will include an appearance by mezzo-soprano Clare McCaldin, pictured, who will perform William Walton’s Facade, the composer’s setting to music of poetry by Edith Sitwell, together with The History of the The Dansant by Richard Rodney Bennet.
Paul Turner, founder and artistic director of the recital series, will perform a specially-commissioned Ed Puddick arrangement of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue.
Saxophonist Hayley Lambert will perform the Shulhoff Hot Sonate and Tom Griffiths will play the Harry James Trumpet Concerto.
Paul Turner, an acclaimed international concert pianist, is full of gratitude to the artists and audiences he credits with ensuring the ongoing success of the recital series.
He said: “Many of the players featured this season have built the trust of our audience with extraordinary performances over a number of years.”
The concert starts at 7.30pm, and tickets cost £20 with concessions available. Call 01793 524481 or visit swindontheatres.co.uk
