A WILTSHIRE Business Award finalist will talk about suicide and mental health in Swindon on BBC Wiltshire tonight.

The Swindon and District Samaritans is a finalist in the Service to the Community category for the awards, which are support by the Advertiser, and take place on May 10.

The centre on Curtis Street is staffed by more than 80 volunteers and gets on average 1,000 calls a month.

Last month it was revealed by NHS chiefs that four people a day in Swindon alone try to kill themselves.

Darren Tee, director Swindon and district samaritans, who will speak to presenter Graham Rogers tonight, told the Adver: "We really want to do something about that by offering our service that stops people reaching that point.

"What better way to celebrate what we do by going through the Wiltshire Business Awards.

"It's more for our volunteers, who are giving up their time to make a difference to people's lives and highlighting to a lot of different places what we are all about."

To tune in listen to BBC Wiltshire tonight from 6.15pm.
