BUSINESS leaders have been welcomed to help shape the future local industrial strategy for the region.

The Swindon and Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership is recruiting local business figures to join its board.

The initiative, which recently incorporated as a limited company, works in partnership with local business and government to set out the strategy for embracing technological changes, meeting the demands for a highly skilled workforce, increasing higher education provision, and attracting and retaining talent and investment in the area.

The SWLEP board membership is voluntary, with claimable expenses. This fresh round of board recruitment is for a membership period of three years.

It is currently made up of 10 members, eight from the private sector and two from Swindon Borough Council and Wiltshire Council.

Successful candidates will need to make a commitment to dedicate approximately two working days per month to cover regular board meetings and working groups.
