THERE is good news for Swindon area fans of classic rock stalwarts Wishbone Ash.

Tickets are still available for the October 29 Arts Centre date of the band’s 50th anniversary tour.

The band, famed for its twin-lead sound, hard-driving live schedule and classics such as The King Will Come, Blowin’ Free and Throw Down the Sword, is a favourite among rock fans all over the world.

Guitar work on many tracks is hailed by devotees as among the best ever recorded.

The band’s work spans genres including straightforward rock, , progressive, instrumental and experimental music.

Formed in Torquay, Wishbone Ash released their eponymous debut album a little over a year later, and was soon filling large venues on both sides of the Atlantic.

Subsequent albums included Argus, There’s the Rub and New Zealand.

The most recent Wishbone Ash album was 2014’s Blue Horizon.

There have been several line-up changes over the years, but original member Andy Powell remains.

The Swindon Arts Centre date is among more than two dozen lined up for the British Anniversary tour, which will see the band play everywhere from Southampton to Glasgow.

They are currently on the road in the US and will soon play in Ireland, South Africa, Switzerland, Germany and France.
