FRESHBROOK: A man who was on a suspended sentenced for an attempted robbery and a theft when he interfered with a car was fined £120 by magistrates.

Andrew Wilson, 41, of Cromwell, admitted carrying out the offence on February 21 and breaching suspended sentences imposed in August 2017 and June last year.

Swindon magistrates took no action on the breaches but told him to pay court costs of £85 and £30 towards victim services.

MIDDLELEAZE: Causing criminal damage to a Fiat 500 belonging to a woman cost Adrian Bryan a bill for £240 in compensation.

The 43-year-old of Castleton Road pleaded guilty to carrying out the offence on March 3. No order was made for court costs because of his lack of means.

PARK SOUTH: Clive Gonsalves, 22, of Carstairs Avenue was told he must pay more than £600 after he set fire to a duvet and a bed runner belonging to the Goddard Arms.

Gonsalves pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage and was fined £215 with £294 compensation, a £30 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.

SWINDON: A driver who did not stop and report a collision in the car park of the Jolly Roger Adventure centre was fined £130.

Graham Hackett, 29, of White Edge Moor, admitted being the driver of a Vauxhall Corsa that collided with a Nissan Qashqai on September 11 and failed to stop. He also admitted failing to report the accident within 24 hours and a charge of careless driving.

The bench ordered him to pay another £115 in court costs and victim surcharge.

SWINDON: A thief who stole cash and scratch cards valued at more than £3,600 from the Co-op was ordered to pay it all back.

Colin Jones, 21, of Ruskin Avenue, pleaded guilty to taking the goods between November 4 and December 3 when he appeared before Swindon magistrates.

He was told he must do 200 hours of unpaid work as part of a 12-month community order, pay £3,640 compensation and £170 in court costs and victim surcharge.

SWINDON: Shoplifter Carmelo Maniglia, 26, of Imber Court Close, Hengrove, Bristol, was given a 12-month conditional discharge after he admitted stealing cosmetics, perfume and shoes valued at £280 from the Cosmetic Company at the Outlet Village.

He was instructed to pay costs of £85 to the crown prosecution service and £20 towards victim services.

OAKHURST: Thief Thomas Moat admitted stealing between £500 and £600 from the Asda Walmart Supercentre over the space of three days at Christmas.

The 18-year-old of Oakhurst Way, took the cash on December 19, 22 and 26, Swindon Magistrates Court heard.

He was fined £84 and instructed to pay £500 compensation with another £115 towards prosecution costs and victim services.

PURTON: Magistrates banned Noel Padden from getting behind the wheel for 18 months after he was caught with more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

The Swindon bench heard Padden, 56, of Eriskay Place, drove a BMW on Purton Road on March 4 and a breath test revealed a level of 84mcg of alcohol. The legal limit is 35.

He was fined £120 and told to pay £115 in court costs and victim surcharge.
