Dangerous driver spat at police officers

A motorist who rammed three police cars during a low speed chase and then assaulted a custody officer was jailed for 16 months.

Christopher Loveridge’s former girlfriend was at the Campanile Hotel and feared he had come to harass her, so she called the police.

When officers arrived Loveridge, 24, led them on a chase where stinger devices were needed twice to stop his car. The vehicle ended up in the front garden of a house on Whitworth Road.

After his arrest, he spat in the face of a detention officer sending saliva into his mouth. The victim said: “He just turned his head and looked at me and in the same movement spat in my face covering from my mouth to my forehead. The spit even went in my mouth.

Loveridge, of Peterborough, admitted dangerous driving, no insurance and assaulting an emergency worker. He was banned from the roads for three years and eight months.

Ice-skating paedophile jailed for indecent assaults on girl

A “pervy” former Olympic ice-skating hopeful who sexually abused a young roller-dancer has been jailed for three years and four months.

David Bullock, whose father is a well-known local coach, repeatedly touched the girl when she was aged between nine and 12 in the late 1980s.

When the 53-year-old’s dad, also David, and his wife were told of the abuse they said they would keep their son away from youngsters.

How the Adver told the story earlier this week

But Bullock resurfaced soon afterwards, helping out at the club, before concentrating on ice skating and moving away, Swindon Crown Court heard.

On two occasions, when the victim thought she was about 11, she was woken by the defendant, then in his early 20s, crouching by her bed. Bullock, who she said she always found “pervy”, took her hand and placed it on his genitals before kissing her all over her body, then staring at her.

Bullock, of Downs View, Highworth, admitted two indecent assaults and two counts of indecency with a child.
