SWINDON'S Marriott Hotel has named children’s hospice at home charity Jessie May as their local charity of the year.

The hotel has pledged to support Jessie May through various fundraising events and activities over the next 12 months, including leaflet drops, open days, summer barbecues and a special Pamper and Prosecco’fundraiser.

Yossra Mahmoud from the hotel said: “In line with Marriott’s core values, we strive to help the local community in which we operate and we are thrilled to be supporting such an amazing charity.”

Swindon and Wiltshire Partnership Officer at Jessie May Debbie Clark said: “We are absolutely thrilled and look forward to working with this fantastic team to raise awareness of our nurses’ vital work and the funds needed to keep our charity going. Our nurses have a great base close to Swindon town centre but they spend the majority of their time in the homes of local families caring for a terminally ill child. This is key to their work – offering parents a well-deserved break in the comfort and safety of their homes, in the child’s own surroundings - but they cannot continue to provide this support without help from the community and businesses like Swindon Marriott."

Jessie May provides vital respite care, emotional support, end of life care and bereavement support to families across Swindon, Wiltshire, Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset, and Bath and North East Somerset.
