A ROUND Tabler marked his national presidency by posing in a replica of Stephenson’s rocket, a probe circled the Moon and the Mayor of Swindon flew somewhere in between.
The Adver covered it all this week 52 years ago, and also found space for a picture of Swindon Town FC hero Don Rogers inspecting an album by the Dudley Moore Trio which is now a collector’s item.
Other stories ranged from a British Rail dance competition at the Mechanics’ Institute to an AA man being rewarded for service which began in the year of King George VI’s coronation.
