EXPERTS will help Swindonians trace their family history at a free workshop next week.

A team of experienced genealogy researchers will be lending a hand at Swindon Central Library on Monday.

Volunteers from the Swindon branch of the Wiltshire Family History Society will offer their help to anyone wanting to bring the history of their recent ancestors to life.

The session has been organised in partnership with the Council’s Local Studies team at the library and aim to open up the digital and catalogued resources available to trace marriages, deaths and other useful records in their collections.

Anyone is welcome to attend, from complete beginners inspired by the hit BBC series Who Do You Think You Are? To more experienced genealogists who may appreciate looking at records from a fresh perspective.

The workshop is free and booking is not required. It will run from 2 - 4pm on 13 May, on the second floor of the library.

The library runs the sessions every few months, so those who can't make it check with staff when the next one will be.
