A GRAPHIC design company in South Marston won Tech Team of the Year at a prestigious ceremony.

GEL Studios staff celebrated at the Business Exchange Swindon & Wiltshire 2019 Techie Awards after the audience at Harham Park in Corsham voted on the night for them to receive the award.

Shortlisted finalists for each award at the Techies submitted a short video to showcase why they deserved to win. GEL Studios received 80 per cent of the votes for the award the COMAPNY won.

Managing director Graeme Leighfield said: "Just to be considered alongside some great local businesses meant a lot to us, so when GEL Studios was announced as the winner, we were really blown away.

"It was great to see so many like-minded, passionate businesses at one event. We honestly can't thank people enough for their votes. Working with each other every day, we know what a passionate and creative team we are. Each and every one of us genuinely loves what we do, and we pride ourselves on trying to be different from other creative agencies out there.

"We receive a lot of great feedback from clients about the fun and positive experience they have with team GEL and we work hard to maintain that. So for other people to not only recognise that, but award us for it, well, we're not quite sure there are enough words to express how much that means to us. To put things quite simply - thank you to everyone for your continued support and love"

GEL Studios is a family-run creative agency which offers custom-made website designs, expert advice and support to its customers.

Burglars broke into its Groundwell Industrial Estate offices in September last year and stole iMacs worth £15,000. In the video which helped the business bag its Techie award, Mr Leighfield described how they bounced back from this incident.

He said: "We've been on an amazing journey together as a team and part of that has involved some adversity. If we didn't make the processes that we utilised on that day, I doubt very much that we'd be here. We wanted to build something reliable and sustainable to make sure that under any eventuality, we'd be okay. Technology was a fundamental part of that - we were able to recover within hours and we did it together, everybody pitched in."
