A SWINDON drink driver has been jailed after he got behind the wheel and made a u-turn in front of police officers in Devizes.
Sean Ashley West, 30, of Hazel Grove, Pinehurst, was sentenced to 16 weeks imprisonment after admitting a charge of drink driving at Swindon Magistrates' Court. He also pleaded guilty to driving whilst disqualified and using a vehicle without insurance.
He was also disqualified from driving for 52 months and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £115.
JPs heard West was seen driving a Ford Fusion in Long Street, Devizes, on Sunday. He was seen to contravene a no entry sign into the High Street and attempt a u-turn which attracted officers attention.
He failed a roadside breath test and was arrested.
Local crime investigator Sam Hagan said: “I am pleased that a custodial sentence has been issued and West will be disqualified from the roads for a lengthy period of time.Getting behind the wheel of a car whilst intoxicated is just not worth the risk – you are putting lives, including your own, in serious danger."
