A FOUNDER member of one of the world’s most fondly-remembered rock bands plays Level 3 in Swindon.

Eric Bell formed Thin Lizzy with Phil Lynott and Brian Downey in 1969, and the band went on to worldwide fame with a string of classic albums and hit singles.

He left in 1973 in a state of exhaustion at the band’s heavy schedule, but not before adding his distinctive guitar sound to tracks including including Whiskey in the Jar, which remains Thin Lizzy’s best-known hit.

Eric was later in a band with Noel Redding, best known for playing bass with the Jimi Hendrix Experience, and also formed his own band.

He is marking the 50th anniversary of the formation of Thin Lizzy with a nationwide tour, and the Swindon date was postponed from March 17, St Patrick’s Day.

The show on Sunday, June 2 is suitable only for ages 14 and over, and tickets cost £12 in advance and £15 on the door.

Level 3 can be contacted on 01793 526600.
