Hinton Parva: Holidaymakers will soon be able to stay in the grounds of a beautiful Grade-II listed farmhouse in Hinton Parva just to the east of Wanborough.

In fact, they’ll be staying in a replacement for the farm’s old milking and cattle barn.

Toby Ridler, who lives at West Hinton House, has been given permission by Swindon Borough Council planners to demolish the barn and put up a similar building, but one divided into four, creating separate bed and breakfast suites for guests.

While Bishopstone Parish Council wasn’t against the idea of four B&B suites it said: “the council is concerned that, despite the best intentions of the applicants, the proposal could eventually lead to the development of four self-contained dwellings located within the open countryside unless very strict controls are attached to any planning permission.”

It asked for a section 106 order to be made, stronger than a normal planning condition, that restricted the use of the new building to bed and breakfast holiday accommodation.

Beech farm Solar has had its application to extend permission to keep the site under arrays of electricity generating panels from 30 years to 35 years. Permission was originally granted in 2015.

Haydon Wick: A cottage in the High Street, which used to be two separate dwellings will be returned to its original state.

The owner, Beverley Neal, and her husband have been granted permission to divide the house into two.

Mrs Neal told planners: “We restored our cottage to its former self, creating something that was beautiful to the eye. We moved into our home three years ago and feel very much part of the Haydon Wick village. After learning the cottage had been two homes many years ago, we saw this as a great opportunity to downsize and to be able to stay in our home for the rest of our lives.”
