OUR stories this week 55 years ago included two about intrepid pioneers.
One was about to qualify as a glider pilot – not a common achievement for a woman in 1964 – and the other built what was said to be the UK’s first home-grown Formula 4 racing car.
A rare set of colour pictures appeared in an advert for a furniture manufacturer; colour tended not to be used in newspapers in those days unless an advertiser with fairly deep pockets was paying for it.
In Regent Street, mods and rockers damaged shopfronts.
