CONSTRUCTION has begun on a massive new warehouse and industrial unit complex in Swindon which is being built to accommodate new manufacturing and distribution businesses.

Trebor Developments and its partner Hillwood have started work at Trinity Park on Hillmead Drive mere days ago after securing planning consent for the space for units between 36,750 and 78,750 sq ft each earlier this year.

Development director James Drew said: “We are pleased to commence the construction of this speculative development following another off-market site acquisition.

"Swindon has a long-established industrial heritage with a skilled work force and is strategically located with access to the M4 and the wider Motorway network.

“We are already having positive discussions with occupiers from a range of sectors and seeing construction commence on site reinforces the message to the market that the new accommodation will be available to occupy at the end of this year.”

It is hoped that Trinity Park will be a well-placed site for the new units because of its location three miles by road from Junction 16 of the M4 and the A419. Construction is expected to finish by the third quarter of this year and the new units will be available to let soon after.

Swindon Borough Council’s cabinet member for the economy and place Councillor Oliver Donachie was pleased to see progress on the site.

He said: “Trebor Developments’ investment in Trinity Park is a real show of confidence in Swindon and I am delighted the company has recognised the potential in the site.

“We have a strong economy most cities would be proud of, fantastic transport links and we know we have talented people in our town.

“It is encouraging that there has been such strong interest in the site from potential occupiers and I look forward to seeing which new employer wants to join the long list of major companies that already do business in Swindon.”

Trebor and Hillwood are represented by joint agents CBRE and WBM Property.
