DISHES from around the world will be served up in Broadgreen when its street food festival returns for a second year.

Showcasing the great diversity of the area and bringing communities together, the event on June 16 features stalls, food, drinks, cricket demonstrations, and live coverage of the ICC World Cup match between India and Pakistan.

Community centre development manager Gifty Tawiah said: “It is organised by South Swindon Parish Council. It was very important for me for the event to be on the streets as it is very difficult for people to cross a threshold and by having it on the streets, it makes it open to everyone. I hope that the event will grow to become a jewel in Swindon’s cultural scene and something to be proud of.”

Groups and bands, including Swindon Samba, will perform during the day-long festival.

It will be held on Salisbury Street, Gladstone Street and Broad Street from 11 am to 4pm. Streets around the centre will be closed. Visit Broadgreen Community Centre Street Food Festival on Facebook.
