1 THE world comes to Wiltshire when WOMAD puts up its stages and tents in the beautiful Charlton Park just outside Swindon.This year’s line-up features stars like Robert Plant, Ziggy Marley and Saving Grace and the music ranges from reggae and hip hop to Arabic and electro. The festival, which runs from July 25 to July 28, gives fans a chance to sample food from all over the globe. There are music and dancing workshops, children’s activities and a spa. 2 BIG names Years and Years, Phats and Small and Toploader head for Lydiard Park on July 27 when MFor Festival takes the stage. Billed as a concert and a family fun day, the event features appearances by HRVY, Ella Eyre and Swindon’s own Jahmene Douglas. Alongside the music there will be street performers, a children’s circus area, a virtual reality rifle range, archery, displays and workshops. 3 A WOODLAND clearing at Westonbirt Arboretum will echo to the sounds of 80s icon Paul Weller as part of a series of concerts. The former frontman of The Jam and the Style Council, appears on June 14, followed by acoustic star Jack Savoretti on June 15. Then on June 16 it’s back to the 90s with a twist with Hacienda Classical when hits from the legendary Manchester nightclub are performer by the original DJs alongside the Manchester Camerata Orchestra. 4 OLD TOWN Festival kicks off this weekend with a parade on Sunday. The fun starts at 12.15 in The Lawns following a parade in the morning. 5 ONE of the south west’s biggest street events happens next week. Cricklade Festival takes over the centre of the historic town just a few miles from Swindon for a day of music, entertainment and displays – and it’s free. Comedy act Men in Coats are on the line-up, along with hula hooper Lisa Lottie, the Dancing Grannies and Cricklade Band. The event on June 16 starts with a parade at 11am. 6 AVEBURY Rocks brings together dozens of musicians to entertain and raise money for Prospect Hospice at the same time. Performer Nick Harper thought it up to say thank you to the hospice for the care his mother received. 7 THE village of Minety hosts a three-day music festival starting on July 5. Run to raise money for Wiltshire Air Ambulance, Naomi House & Jacksplace Hospice and Minety Primary School, it features almost 60 acts, a gin and prosecco bar, camping, a treehouse teen tent equipped with games consoles and activities for children.
