Swindon’s Bus Company is offering discounted day tickets to encourage more people to use public transport instead of driving.

The scheme provides an online code for passengers’ clickit2ride app on the company’s website that cuts Dayrider ticket prices to £1 on Thursday, which is Clean Air Day.

Nikki Honer from Swindon Bus Company said: “This means people will be able to travel on any of our services for the whole of Clean Air Day for less than it costs to park for an hour in many of the town’s car parks.

“We are committed to helping improve the quality of air we breathe in Swindon, and we have been working on this in a number of ways, including investing in a new fleet of greener vehicles.

“Bus travel has changed beyond recognition over recent years, and those who haven’t travelled with us recently will be amazed at the enhancements we’ve made.

"Our new buses accept mobile phone payments, as well as contactless, and they sport the very latest Euro 6 low emissions engines.

"We hope our Clean Air Day offer encourages more people to take the bus. If we can convert some car users, it could make a huge difference to the local environment in the long term, as well as helping ease the cities congestion issues.”
