DETERMINED Hollie Lennon girl scaled Britain’s highest mountains in three days to help other children.

The six-year-old is one of the youngest people ever to have completed the junior Three Peaks Challenge.

She walked up Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon independently, carrying her own kit with mum Helen and dad Jamie on hand to support her, and raised £1,328 for the NSPCC.

The Shaw Ridge Primary School pupil managed to reach one peak each day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday before returning to school on Monday.

She said: “I like the challenge of doing something tough and I want to raise money to help other children.

“I mostly looked forward to getting to the top of Scafell Pike because I hadn’t been there before.

“I’m really happy with all of the money I have raised and I hope I can raise as much as possible.”

Hollie had already conquered Pen y Fan, Ben Nevis and Snowdon before she turned six.

Her mum Helen said: “She has always been adventurous. At home, Hollie has got bundles of energy, she does loads of activities each week which really help to keep her busy.

“It was her idea to do the challenge after she heard about it, she was eager to try it.

“We are extremely proud of her because she showed great courage and determination while preparing for the challenge, and she couldn’t wait to give it a go.”

Other climbers who met Hollie on their journeys donated to her fundraising page, including Paul Holmes who said: “Great to meet you and your dad on Ben Nevis and going up Scafell Pike, good luck.”

Natalie Summer-Anderson said: “Well done, what an achievement and in this horrible weather. All to help other children.”

One anonymous supporter called Hollie an inspiration.

NSPCC community fundraising manager for the region Caroline Morgan said: “It was such a pleasure to meet Hollie before she set off on her adventure. She is a total inspiration.

“For someone so young to be taking on such a big challenge and to help children at the same time, by fundraising, is incredible.

“We are extremely lucky and grateful Hollie has chosen to raise money for us, our work wouldn’t be able to continue without support like hers.”

The NSPCC has a service centre in Old Town that provides several different services including domestic abuse programme DART, Pregnancy in Mind for anxious mothers, and Letting the Future In for abuse survivors.
