Figures for the treatment of diabetes in Swindon are expected to show an improvement when they are published later this year.
A report by the town’s Clinical Commissioning Group later this week says the organisation remains rated inadequate for diabetes by the Care Quality Commission, but things are getting better.
The document says: “The three treatment targets are cholesterol, blood pressure and a person’s average blood sugar levels for the last two to three months. The cholesterol treatment target has improved from 72.3 per cent to 75.4 per cent.
“The diabetes structured education target has improved from 3.5 per cent to 5.3 per cent and further work is under way to meet the 8.54 per cent target.
“New Living Well with Diabetes education programmes are in place. These are based on six modules to make them more accessibleand increasing the number of venues where sessions are held.”
