THE identity of the woman whose body was found at a home in East Oxford on Monday has been released by police.

Victim Safie Xheta was formally identified today as part of the forces investigation into the murder in Lytton Road.

Police said a post mortem examination confirmed the 35-year-old died from knife injuries to the neck.

Her family are being supported by specially trained officers and a murder investigation is ongoing.

A man was taken to hospital following the incident with serious injuries where he remains.

Detective superintendent Ian Hunter, head of Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit, said: “We continue to investigate the circumstances of this incident and are in the early stages however at this time we believe this to be an isolated incident and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident."

A cordon has been in place around the property since Monday and police say it is expected to remain in place for the coming days. It thanked local residents for their patience.
