BOLTON West MP Chris Green is now backing Boris Johnson to become Tory leader and Prime Minister.

The Conservative backbencher had previously supported former Brexit Secretary Dominic Raab for the party's top job before he was knocked out on Tuesday.

Now Mr Green has followed the lead of his previous choice and backed Mr Johnson, so far the runaway leader in the polls of MPs whittling down the contenders to two before a vote of Conservative Party members chooses the winner.

He believes the former Foreign Secretary and Mayor of London will both deliver Brexit by October 31 and make politics 'interesting and engaging'.

Mr Green, a strong supporter of leaving the European Union, said: "I was disappointed Dominic Raab was knocked out at this stage and I am now supporting Boris Johnson.

"I believed he is a real leader who will both deliver Brexit by the end of October and tackle the domestic agenda that concerns my constituents.

"People flock to see him on the High Street and I think he makes politics interesting and engaging for ordinary people."
