Swindon's very first Starbucks drive-thru will open for the first time on Monday.

Kevin Parry, the mayor of Swindon, will be cutting the ribbon to officially open the new coffee shop and drive-thru. He will also betaking part in a taster session.

The new Starbucks can be found on Barnfield Close, near Lidl and the Subway drive-thru close to the Great Western Way in Rodbourne.

Philip Lee-Ashby, a spokesperson for The Magic Bean Company, a partner of Starbucks UK, said: “I’m excited for it being the first one, it will be a good attraction for the town.”

There are four Starbucks chains in Swindon - situated in the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet and The Brunel shopping centre – but the new drive-thru is the first of its kind to open in the town.

Philip said: “It’s a really lovely area, we are expecting it to be busy.”

But it’s not just for those in a rush to get their pick-me-up – Philip says it is for everyone, whether they’re meeting friends or going as a family.

He said: “It’s not just a place you can go to grab a coffee, it’s for everyone, including families.”

"You can order a cup off coffee or a Frappuccino for the upcoming summer hot days, or if you’re feeling hungry wraps and other things are on the menu."

Starbucks will open on Monday at 8am.
