DETECTIVES have been given extra time to quiz a hit-and-run murder suspect.
Police arrested a Watford man, 23, on Sunday after the death of a man hit by a car along the A303 near Amesbury two days earlier.
The 63-year-old pedestrian was taken to hospital after the crash at around 4.50pm on the A-road eastbound, but died in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Wiltshire Police was earlier today given additional time by magistratesto hold the man for questioning.
Appealing to anyone who saw the crash to come forward, Det Supt Julie Mackay said on Sunday: "We would like to speak anyone who may have seen this collision on Friday.
"This is a very busy road and I believe there would have been a number of drivers and road users who would have seen this incident.
"Also, if you have any dash-cam footage of this please come forward."
Anyone with information should call Wiltshire Police on 101.
