A DETERMINED six-year-old girl from Swindon smashed her NSPCC fundraising target after completing the Three Peaks Challenge.

Hollie Lennon conquered Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon over three challenging days while carrying her own gear to raise more than £1,300.

The Shaw Ridge Primary pupil is believed to be the youngest person to complete the challenge. She said: “I had a super time climbing the mountains but it did make me a bit tired. Now that I have got to the top of them all, I am going to have to find a bigger one to climb.

“Everyone was saying well done to me and all of my friends at school did too. My favourite part of the weekend was carrying my flag to the top of Scafell Pike because I had never been there before.”

Her dad Jamie supported Hollie during her journeys to the peaks. He said: “Hollie did really well and we actually got quite lucky with the weather while we were climbing.

“Hollie was in her element during the challenge, she did get a little bit tired, but people were donating to her cause while we were walking.

“She couldn’t understand why people were congratulating her, because she’s got no idea what a great achievement it is. I’m so proud of her, I’m proud of her all the time but this weekend she’s been brilliant.

“I’d like to thank all of the people who sponsored Hollie to make this such a memorable event for our family, including Cotswold Outdoor Swindon, which provided Hollie with all the clothing and equipment she needed for the challenge.”

Hollie’s mother Helen is just proud after helping Hollie through her training climbs and monitoring her progress closely.

NSPCC community fundraising manager for Wiltshire Caroline Morgan said: “For someone so young to take on and complete this task is just incredible. Hollie is a true inspiration.”
