THERE were storms in France, freezing temperatures in the Pyrenees and blistering heat in Spain but Liam Healy, 42, from Chippenham arrived in El Soto on his bike after 13 days in the saddle.

It was all in the cause of raising cash for Dorothy House in memory of his mother in law Elaine Hagan who died last year of pancreatic cancer.

"I made it," he said, "After doing a thorough bike check this morning, and staying focused, keeping my eye on the ball, and applying plenty more chamois cream, I set off from Antequera just before 9am (8am UK time) on my final leg of the 13 day cycle."

A group of friends gathered to greet him at around 1pm on Tuesday in the village of El Soto in southern Spain offering him a glass of champagne to celebrate.

His Just Giving page as reached £4,000 for the charity as friends and family backed his epic ride.

He chose El Soto near Marbella as that's where the family have a holiday home which Elaine always referred to as her second home.
