RUNNERS from two businesses raised £6,000 for charity in an annual fun run.
Around 130 employees from RWE and nPower’s office in Swindon took part in the annual 5km and 10km runs for Macmillan Cancer Support, npower’s charity partner for 15 years.
The challenge is now in its ninth year and raised £3,000, which nPower match-funded, taking the total to £6,000.
The winner was Anastasios Papafragkou, who works in the renewables team, and completed the 10km race in 41min 14secs.
He said: “Running this race is a great way of giving something back to help support the great work that Macmillan does.
“It was incredibly hot running in this heat, but our Swindon running group ran together until the very last stretch when I sprinted for the finish line.”
The race route starts in the office grounds, on to Lydiard Park and back to the office for the finishing line.
