A NEW support group for blind people is starting in Pinehurst.
Vision West of England is launching a community group open to all visually-impaired residents in North Swindon.
Community sight loss advisor Louise Kutzner will host fortnightly support sessions, starting on July 23 at Pinetrees Community Centre between 10am and 12 noon.
The group will offer support and guidance, as well as signpost to other organisations relevant to participants.
Mrs Kutzner said: “We’re trying to reach out to the community, to those who are perhaps isolated and suffering from a visually impairing condition.
“Often people get sent home with their diagnosis and then they don’t really know what to do next. It can be very isolating, especially if their children have grown up and moved away."
The group will host future talks and events if there is enough interest.
