A WILTSHIRE man has denied molesting an eight-year-old girl.
Edward Caldwell, 36, who appeared before Swindon Magistrates’ Court via video link from an Isle of Wight prison, pleaded not guilty to four counts of sexually touching a girl under the age of 13.
The alleged assaults are said to have taken place between October 2013 and November 2014, when the girl was between eight and nine years old.
Wearing a blue shirt, Caldwell spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth, nationality and his not guilty pleas.
Magistrates declined jurisdiction for the case, remanding Caldwell into custody to appear before Salisbury Crown Court on July 31.
At a magistrates' court hearing that lasted little more than 10 minutes, Caldwell was represented by Katherine Sproson. Pauline Lambert appeared for the crown.
